There were highs; there were lows; there was full blown romance
There were tears; there were smiles when we both took a chance
There were disagreements; there were make ups during our run
There were moments of silence; there were moments of fun

There were ups; there were downs; there was mutual love
There were sorrows; there were laughter; we were the only ones we thought of
There were accusations; there were compromises we alluded to
There was whiteness; there was grayness; there were also blues

There were hits, there were misses; there was passion
There were slaps; there were hugs; there were good intentions
There was shouting; there was courting; we gave it our best
There were answers; there were questions as we were put to the test

There were bumps; there was smooth sailing; there was faithfulness
There were promises made; there were vows forgotten as we strove for happiness
There were truths; there were lies; we didn’t always see eye to eye
There was heat; there was cold; we tried and tried

There was good; there was bad; there were understandings
There were demands; there were give-ins within this undertaking
There were realities; there were fantasies; sometimes the lines blurred

 There was trust; there were doubts; there was magic
